Added my Contact Details to Blackboard (MICN: Medicine Second Year 2008). Have had a request/query from a student since the posting - asking whether there will be textbooks available in Hunter for student use [this would be a problematic service to implement].
Taking a "Softly-softly" approach to raising the profile of the Library at the Hunter Centre - had a long chat with a Second Year student on Friday afternoon, and was able ask him how the course was going, and he stated that the students are still getting their heads around the new curriculum. I also asked him how he thought the students would like me to work with them, i.e., would they prefer me to approach them and be "in their face", or would my "Softly-softly"approach be better. He said that taking a low-key approach was definitely better, and that things will get busy when assignments start becoming due.
The teaching staff continue to be supportive - they want to include me in tutorial issues. Attending the Case 9 Tutors Briefing this Wednesday - this should offer a useful platform for flagging issues that the Library can assist with. Just had a brief one-on-one session with tutor co-ordinator Brenda Stebbing, and she thought attending the tutor briefing sessions was a very good idea [Brenda said she was going to tell the tutors to approach me for one-on-one sessions as time permits - from these sessions I can gauge whether there is a need for formal structured teaching sessions for tutors, and tutors time commitments].
